A Musical presented at La Seine Musicale from November 5 to 10, 2024.

Benjamin Millepied’s first musical at La Seine Musicale in the fall of 2024, from November 5 to 10, is a celebratory portrait of one of the iconic figures of the late 20th-century rock scene : Jeff Buckley.

“I have been passionate about Jeff’s music for years. Whenever I listened to his songs, dance always came to mind. The idea for a musical blossomed within me when I read “Jeff Buckley: His Own Voice,” a book featuring Jeff’s journal.

Jeff Buckley was a complete artist, a beautiful soul, a butterfly full of grace who touched the earth with a unique dance and left us with words and notes brimming with love and passion for life itself. Everything about his music—his virtuosity as a singer and musician, his choices of arrangements, his outstanding covers—demonstrated his ability to reach the essence and truth of any music he touched. His versatility, his ability to embody so many styles, may have confused some, but to me, it only highlights his immense talent, generous taste, and uniqueness. Jeff knew who he was and knew exactly what he wished to express to the world. There was only one Jeff Buckley. His music deserves to be discovered, rediscovered, and cherished until the end of time.”
